Are you an over-planner? Are you always thinking of the next thing instead of enjoying the present moment?
Well, according to Google, the happiest people are those who live in the moment. Instead of being stuck on the past or obsessing over what the future will look like, being present and being grateful. Though thinking of the past can help us learn from our mistakes and thinking of the future can help you set goals, if you want to be happy with what you have, then take some time to enjoy exactly what you’re doing right now. Focus on what the day will bring you instead of what happened yesterday or what you’ll be able to change about tomorrow.
When you make a commitment to change something in yourself, you are making a conscious choice for a new way of living.
When you are trying to change something like this in your life, you must make that decision repeatedly. Otherwise, you will automatically fall back into the old habit because that one has been your ‘default mode’ for so long.
Close your eyes and take some deep breaths. Focus on being in the moment and you’ll feel all your worries melt away. Be patient: this takes practice.
You can also meditate or do yoga to help yourself focus on the present moment instead of planning about what the future may bring.
No matter how much you plan, you can never predict how life will unfold. You will only know when you are there.
The over-planners hinder themselves from living in the present and cause unneeded tension in their life. Invigorate your life with present-focused living practices.
You certainly don’t have time to meditate for five hours a day and not make plans but making tiny adjustments will help decrease stressors and help you be able to get a jump on the inevitable problems that come up in life.
Observe when your mind starts focusing on the future instead of the current moment. Ask yourself whether this is required. Being conscious of your thoughts can help you be more present.
Why not book our Conscious Retreat? This retreat can be booked at any time, you can come solo or bring a friend/partner or why not just start by dropping in for a yoga session?
