July 2022 Newsletter

Choose YOU!

I can’t believe it’s July again! My birthday month and another year older. I’m not sure about you, but I tend to get pretty reflective when I’ve taken another trip around the sun.

After my last birthday newsletter where I spoke about self-worth and how I finally, at the age of 40, was in a place of such deep knowing who I am and being worthy do I still receive messages from friends/clients/followers on how they can also reach that place in their own lives?

Have you ever sat in a coffee shop and thought, hmm she looks happy. What is she doing that I’m not? Or in a meeting, hmmm how does he have so much insight?

Choose how you see yourself, how you feel about yourself, and how you interact with the world – there are systems in place and people at the ready to help.

We often forget that we are just balls of energy, flying through space on a rock.  We get to choose our lives; we get to choose our emotions. No one feels amazing about themselves all of the time, but it’s important to remember that if you struggle to feel good about yourself, you’re not alone. I’ve been there, and it’s a horrible way to live.

There’s no simple formula to change what could be a long-ingrained pattern. It takes some effort and some additional help to make this monumental change.

I recently watched a TikTok where they said that all animals are born with their key instinct.  “Giraffes know how to run as soon as they’re born, a snake knows how to bite, and us – what is our first instinct?  It’s to cry – to cry for help”

Help is the key
You must see someone! There is no way I could have done the work I needed to do on myself without seeing my therapist. That would be your first step. If you are thinking therapists are only for seriously messed up people, think again. Though some of those feelings still exist, the stereotype is slowly being left behind.

Here are some of the ways you can benefit from seeing someone:

  1. One of the primary benefits of seeing a therapist is that therapy is a great place to organize your thoughts. Generally speaking, most people have one or two symptoms of neurosis, and they just need a sounding board. These can be anxiety, sadness or depression, anger, irritability, negative thinking, mental confusion or low sense of self-worth.
  2. The second benefit is to reduce the mind-chatter in your brain — the voices in your head affecting your self-esteem. These voices are telling you that you aren’t good enough and that you’re a failure. Mind chatter is made up of voices from your past: your childhood, former relationships, bosses and teachers. We’re shaped by our past and certain experiences, whether good or bad.

Seeing a therapist is a good reality check of what’s normal and what’s socially acceptable. A lot of people struggle with anxiety or anger but don’t bother examining what the causes are.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help you sort out the thoughts that are fueling your low sense of self-worth. Once you identify the thoughts, you can take positive steps to replace them with more helpful ideas.

Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) is a very effective and natural therapy that works by re-routing/rewiring old pathways in the brain and creating new pathways which provide a different response. The negative trigger is caught and stopped in its tracks preventing it from firing up and negatively impacting our lives. Once the brain is thought to respond through an ideal self-esteem trigger, positive change occurs.

Going to therapy is a life-changing experience no matter what kind of experience you have. You can see what therapy really is like and base your judgment on that. If it’s bad, don’t go ever again. If it’s good, spread the message to other people that you believe need help with their mental health. No one is forcing you to go as well. It is just a simple suggestion. You give someone your complete trust and express your true feelings. You learn things about yourself that you never thought you would. It’s not a bad idea to give it a try.
