December 2023 Newsletter

Dear Woodlands Family,

As we bid a heartfelt goodbye to November, we step into the warmth and vibrancy of December – a time rich with festivities, family, friends, and profound reflection. Like many of you, I’ve been looking back on the year 2023, pondering over the lessons learned and the insights gained.

A striking meme on Instagram, “11 unforgettable truths 2023 taught me,” deeply resonated with me. These truths serve as gentle reminders that life is an intricate tapestry of challenges, insights, release, and new beginnings. Amidst Johannesburg’s sweltering heatwave and the inevitable year-end fatigue, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Yet, it is precisely in these challenging times that we unearth our most significant lessons:

1. Storms are temporary.
Remember, life isn’t just about weathering storms; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.

2. Intuition is your compass.
In the hustle of life, don’t ignore that niggling feeling or nagging thought. Embracing and heeding our intuition paves the way to success and happiness.

3. People-pleasing burns your energy.
You are not here to solely please others at your expense. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

4. Joy happens in the present moment.
The past is history, the future a mystery. Living in the now is where true joy resides.

5. Gratitude attracts more good things.
A gratitude journal can be a powerful tool, reminding us of our blessings, both big and small.

6. You can’t be everything to everyone.
Focus on being everything to yourself, and watch how life transforms.

7. Embracing change makes life smoother.
Change is constant; our reaction to it is a choice. Embrace it and find peace.

8. Small daily victories matter.
Celebrate the small wins, especially on tough days. They are significant.

9. When you think someone is great, tell them.
A simple compliment can make a world of difference to someone.

10. Your inner peace needs you to say ‘no’ often.
Remember, ‘no’ is a complete sentence. You owe no explanations for prioritizing your peace.

11. Real connections shouldn’t be forced.
Listen to your gut. If doubts linger, they’re likely there for a reason.

These principles have been beacons of hope and resilience for me, especially amidst fatigue and stress.

Making Time for Growth

Carving out time for personal growth amidst our busy schedules can be daunting, but it’s essential. If we can find time to engage in less fulfilling activities, surely we can dedicate moments to meditation, journaling, or goal setting. It’s about choosing to elevate our well-being over remaining in discomfort.

December: A Month of Intentional Change

As we look towards 2024, let’s not just plan but act. December is the perfect time for introspection and initiating change. Reflect on the behaviors and attitudes you’re ready to leave behind. Setting intentions, not just resolutions, is key. It’s about unlearning patterns that no longer serve our purpose and embracing new, healthier ones.

This December, we invite you to join us on a journey of introspection and transformation. Whether it’s through a reiki
